  • RBS Mint Credit Card

    Hello all!

I have been reading through several threads, all of which are very informative to an ignoramus like me, but I would like some help with my specific problem please.

Back in about 2002, I took out a credit card through RBS Mint. All was going well.

In 2005 I moved to Spain and shortly afterwards I was unfortunately out of work and so started piling up debt on the Mint card. The credit was quite high owing to the fact that back in UK I had ok-ish earnings. I couldn't keep up the earnings and with a debt of about £6k I entered into a payment plan of £75 a month. This was probably back in mid-2006?

Details are sketchy because I moved back to UK in Aug 2007 and haven't told RBS of that fact and so all letters/paperwork will be going somewhere in Spain!!

Once back in UK, despite getting back into work, money was tight and so I decided to look at what could cut from monthly payments... stupidly I decided to just stop paying RBS anything. This has been the case for over 2 years now.

I recently got a bit worried about this and so did an online credit check... to my surprise there is NOTHING about this RBS account at all. Every single other financial detail of mine is there to see except this one.

What does this mean in your experience? Is it because they think I am still on a voulntary arrangement, or that RBS have sold the debt on and the new company simply haven't caught me yet? Obviously any letters sent will be lost somewhere in the Spanish postal system.

My credit rating is now actually rather good and I am unwilling to rock the boat by "fessing-up" but I am worried about what my options are should someone eventually get hold of me.

Help please, and sorry for the "war and peace" story!!

    Re: RBS Mint Credit Card

If you haven't paid in 2 years, it would be unwise to rock the boat because you'd risk resetting the SBd clock. You say you entered into a payment plan in 2006, that means you would have been defaulted at around that time, and as it's over six years ago, the default would have dropped off your file by now, they only stay in place for six years, not forever!

There is no reason why they should think you are on an IVA (voluntary arrangement), those are a form of insolvency and would appear on your file.

    Sorry for replying so late.
