  • Fredericksons and Hmrc

I have been receiving texts from this company since Monday. I have not acknowledged them until I received a letter from them today telling me to contact them about a HMRC debt back in 2008 for overpayment of WTC and CTC for £1900.00.
I have been paying HMRC £67.00 a month since September 2012 and was under the impression they were happy with that.
    Has anyone got any advice?
I work for a company that check my credit score every year and if it fails I could lose my job.
Has anyone had this happen to them?

I would check what is going on with HMRC in the first instance.

Yes I will. They were very unhelpful when I spoke to them last year. The money I am paying is killing me so if they want anymore they won't get it.

Only deal with them in writing. Never over the telephone or by email.

Follow Ostell's advice. If Fredrickson's are playing silly buggers and HMRC have not engaged them, don protective clothing as something brown and smelly may hit the rotating air conditioning.

So do I contact HMRC? If they advise me it has been passed to Fredericksons do I then deal with them?
dont know why I am surprised HMRC go to these crooked b&&&&stards.

Apologies for butting in. In your original post you state that you have been paying HMRC £67.00 a month since September 2013? Is that a typo error? All the best.

Hi Bluebottle I really hope that this is Fredericksons and this debt hasn't been passed to them.
it shows how low they will go.

You do not have to contact Fredericksons.
Write (recorded delivery) to HMRC and ask if they have authorised DCAs to contact you, and if so why as you already have an arrangement in place to repay the overpayment.
A similar situation hit my daughter a 3 or 4 years ago, but after we sent a SAR and went through the papers with a fine tooth comb, checked exactly what had been done against what should have been done, involved local MP then HMRC wrote off overpayment as they had not followed correct procedures!
They even managed to c**k that up and she ended up with an extra £1000 in her account:tinysmile_grin_t:. We didn't tell them.
The CAG site was very useful at the time.

I have amended Des8's post, but you should follow his advice.

Forgive my asking, but there is a reason. When you say overpayment of WTC & CTC in 2008 can you clarify whether it is for the tax year period 2007-08 or 2008-09.

                          Thank you. :tinysmile_grin_t: :beagle:

It now seems the government is starting to claw back overpayments from HMRC and other departments going back years,as much as we despise this it has to be said the majority would agree with this.If the OP or others are now having to pay back Proven overpayments they should but only at a rate they can afford and without the involvement of a private company. There is no need for the harassment that the DCAs bring the Tax man has enough powers already without subbing out the job to others

Yes. The overpayments are from 2008/2009 according to my HMRC letter.
