Quick Quid - email phishing?

I never have and never would take out any sort of payday loan - however, I have received this email today:

Extended Repayment Plan Available: Prevent Sale To 3rd Party Collectors

Dear Qpips,
Customer ID: 1****4Unless payment is made on your loan by 2 August 2013 it may be sold to a third party collection agency.

To help you prevent this transfer your defaulted loan balance has been referred to the QuickQuid Final Resolution Department.
QuickQuid will accept a re-payment plan over n/a months. Based on your outstanding balance of n/a this would be a monthly payment of n/a. Please contact our Final Resolution Department between 08:00 and 21:00 Mon - Fri at 0800 016 3114 to accept this offer or to learn about other options available. It is important to provide dates of payment when replying to this e-mail as the arrangement is incomplete without dates of payment.
Once a payment plan is in place, collections activities will stop as long as payments are made on time. The only forms of payment accepted for this offer are Debit Card or Direct Debit Mandate. If your account information has changed please inform our agents so they can update your information.

What worries me is how have they got my correct details??

What correct details did they get?if its just your email address is there a problem/I have one email addres that for months only got emails from one sender no spam then one day it got hacked and sent thousands of emails to all and sunder none which were on my emailbefore its that easy ,as you never use this company any account details cant be yours

They have my full name, (which is very different from my email address) would this indicate a problem? The email did go to my spam email address...

Identity theft is the first thought, and not for the first time with the Pay Day Loan companies. Perhaps a call to http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ in the first instance. Then an email to QuickQuid telling them that you are not the person that took out the loan and it has been reported to the police.

If you contact quokquid ( blank your number out) they will ask for ID number then ask security questions you don't know the answers when they say they cant talk to you as your not the account holder you can ask them why they are contavting you about someones debt,i suspect the account no. might not exist then contact actionfraud

Have sent them this:

Please be advised that I never have, nor would I ever be foolish enough to take out a pay day loan from yourselves! I am very distressed by the email below and would like you to clarify:

A. Where and how you managed to procure my personal details.

B. All details you hold regarding myself and my financial information.

C. Any paperwork you have with any signed arrangements with Quick Quid ( or any linked 3rd parties.)

D. Your complaints procedures.

E. Full details of any entries or searches made on my credit file by Quick Quid.

As you should be aware, phishing emails sent to an individual for financial gain is a very serious matter and I will have no hesitation in reporting this matter to the financial ombudsman, and the police.

Please respond to this email as a matter if urgency.

Hi,

You have sent them what is known as a Subject Access Request.

Normally, this incurs a payment of £10, payable to the company (usually via their Data Controller)

They should respond, probably to ask for the tenner, possibly to request proof of identification.

They should not ignore it.

Did you get proof of postage?

NB Don't sign anything!

As an aside, my son rec'd an invitation in the post to use the services of a company in order to reclaim PPI.

He is 11 yrs old!

Good morning, can I tell you I have just opened the same email. I have no idea what they are talking about and emailed back saying this and asking for more information. I must admit I am really upset by the threatening tone of the email.

They should not ignore it.

If you were the debtor its designed to upset them to make them payup ignore it or phone to find out whats going on

I would bet their days are around for a long time yet how long did it take for PPI to be stopped then refunds to start remember your dealing with big money here
