I see from the above correspondence that Mr Crabtree conveniently side-steps the issue of 'Statute-Barred'.

As you are in contact with him anyway, you could, without making any admission of owing the 'debt', ask him again whether it is SB.

That puts the hot potato in their court.

Then wait for a reply.

Ahh, that is a good point, not something that I had noticed. I am doing my best to keep from admitting the debt, as I don't want to get lumbered with it if it's a mistake and isn't actually mine!

(It isn't a bad thing always, like Yoda to sound, lol)
