Perhaps I have this wrong but isn't the FPN the very least of the OP's problems.

Isn't it the civil action that has incurred the bill.

I would be interested to know how much of this was down to the actual damages awarded and how much is costs, and are the OP's own barristers/solicitors fees included.

I have an awful feeling, GT, this is a case where Civil law has been abused and misused and, in doing so, the Criminal Law has been breached. If anything, the date these two little so-and-sos reported this matter is important. Any actual ramming incident is serious and is treated seriously by the courts as the worst case scenario can involve fatalities. I am somewhat surprised that the police did not carry out a proper investigation, but after learning that SWP were involved, it doesn't surprise me.
