  • Capquest chasing debt I already tried to pay

I has an overdraft with HBOS, which I forgot I was in, and overdraft charges grew, the longer I left it. I received no reminders or any other contact from HBOS informing me that this was happening. It was an old account, that I withdrew money from by accident. When I finally noticed this, it was around 6 months later, and the bill had shot up to over £1000, which I could not afford, so admittedly, I ignored it. A year later when I came into some money, I went into a Halifax branch hoping to reach an agreement, and settle the debt.I was informed that I didn't have an account with them and I didn't owe them anything. I asked for this in writing, which I was told he could not provide. Now, another maybe, 12 months later, I have received a letter at my new address, from CapQuest, informing me that it must be paid within 7 days, or 'further action will be taken'.Would appreciate any advice on what to do or where I stand. What would happen if it was ignored, as I don't even know how they got this address, as I only just moved here and received nothing at previous addresses.Thank you in advance

    Hi and welcome!

I would start by asking Crapquest to prove the debt by sending them this letter, let's see what they reply with: http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...9479#post59479
