I have yet again received another Final Notice from MK Rapid Recoveries. Its a demand for me to get in touch regarding a debt of £1,063.50. It is a debt going back more than eight years i'm sure, with Sky Card before it became Barclaycard. I really don't have the funds, and its something that is causing me great stress. To be honest, i'd long forgotten about it. They are threatening that if I don't get in touch with them real soon, or answer one of their many phone calls which always are withheld numbers, (I take it they are from them, as they say in the letter that they have tried calling me on numerous occasions. I'm at my whit's end, unsure what to do next. Can you please help me? Do I reply, call them back. I don't seem to have an email address I can write to as well. So, any contact that I make with them, would have to be via the phone. Help me please.....

Debt collectors specialise in uttering empty threats. Do not speak to them on the phone, don't ring them and if they ring you, refuse to go through security and hang up. If you are going to have any communication with them, it should be in writing. If, as Bluebottle suggests above, you haven't paid anything or acknowledge this debt in writing, it would be Statute Barred and all you'd have to do is tell them in writing. Otherwise, do tell us a bit about the history of this account, when you last paid, etc. and we can suggest a letter you can send.
