I am totally disgusted with Santander and how they are treating me.
I used a company to claim back my PPI called Investor compensation. This company kept on calling me asking me to contact Santander as they were not getting a response from them so I called Santander in January. The associate advised me that Investor Compensation had a case on an account that did not have PPI attached but she did advise me that I had PPI on another account that IC were not looking in to. She then asked me if I wanted to proceed with a new claim so I did. I went through security etc. and was asked why I wanted to claim this PPI back etc. Protocol for a new claim. As far as I was concerned I was making this new claim as per the conversation which I had with the Santander associate.
So I receive a letter in February stating that I was owed £2414 back which I was overjoyed about. I am a student so this money was a godsend. I happily accepted and received the money into my bank account.
I then got a call from IC stating that I owed them £869 as part of their commission. Why? How? I made this claim and not them. So after various phone calls to Santander (who admitted that they made the error) I called IC and told them of this. IC then called Santander who denied liability so IC put me, Santander and themselves on a three way call to listen for evidence. Santander then denied liability to me on the call so IC had this as evidence.
After another call to Santander, they admitted that they did give me incorrect information but said that I still had to pay IC the funds as the issue was between me and IC.
I am so angry with Santander because if they hadn’t given me false information when I called them in January, then I would have paid IC the commission that I owed them. Now IC are asking for this money PLUS interest.
I have been threatened with bailiffs. Please can someone give me some advice?
