Ive received a leeter from this company saying I owe them £106
Have no idea what the debt was from so I have rang them to find out
So its from a mobile phone contract ive taken out from orange,
I remember taking it out when I was 16 years old (6years ago)
They asked me to make a card payment I dont know who these are
And the debt should of been cleared 5 years of not being intouch with
Orange or debt collectors I said this to her and she said no its 6
Which is a blantent lie but she was positive. And also I had the contract
Going for 2 months and it was a 18 month contract with a payment £30 permnth
So 16x30 =£480 I should owe orange then debt collector has purchased this
So it should be higher ... I am baffled to how this has come about after so long with so little to pay
I hope some one can further educate me on the matter of who these are and I dont owe them anything they seem fishy to me

    Thanks

    Ben

Statute of Limitations is 6 years in England/Wales & 5 years in Scotland.

They are just a common or garden debt collector. You could write and ask them to prove you owe them.

How did you take out a contract before you were 18?

          Hiya,
I am unsure just how you got a phone contract before the age of 18, but.. regardless.. I have a little suggestion to make to you.

From you saying you know its a 5 year SB I am assuming you are North of the Border in Sunny Scotland, this debt has been bought by a DCA who KNOW it is SB and are simply trying to get a payment.. and anything will do.

I agree totally with Plods advise, either send them a standard prove it letter, or ignore them. If you are a Scottish Beagle, it is SB as you are aware, they can do nothing.
