  • CCSCollect on behalf of HMRC

I will be corresponding as advised on this site by letter and will not speak to them on the phone and will be using the very useful templates that have already been given on this site so thank you for that.

Just wondered if anyone could help with this.

My brother has received a letter from CCS collect indicating that they are authorised by HMRC to recover the money and I have looked at the HMRC website and confirmed that HMRC do use this company.

We are unsure as to what the amount is in relation to so will be asking CCS Collect for an explanation as to how it is owed.

He is self employed and he did accumulate tax arrears some years ago and agreed a settlement with HMRC just prior to going into court and this has been settled for some years now.

He has not been responsible for National Insurance contributions for a least 10 years due to a low income but could this debt be prior to this and if so does anyone know if the statute of limitations would apply for National Insurance contributions as I can't find anything about NI only that tax is not exempt from the statute.

Thanks in advance for your help
