When you get details of how the claim is made up, you may then be able to contest it on other grounds, eg unfair charges, unfair relationship, counterclaim for non-compliance with data protection act etc.

Thank you, all this is very new to me, the last dealings with court I had the shoe was on the other foot over a certain company W-----e Finance repossessing a car they shouldn't have, that ended well on my part with the support of a fellow board member (I believe she used this board too which is why I came here and not the one I used last time as too many people were giving bad advice there and nearly cost me my case, the majority were fabulous so as not to slur them all with the same brush). I will write to the solicitors tonight and get it sent tomorrow and send off the acknowledgement within the timeframe, as soon as I have heard anything I will be back for more help. Thank you to everyone that has given me advice so far

Make sure you send everything by Recorded delivery so as to have proof of postage and delivery

Thank you, already remembered that bit SAR and CCA requests completed and printed and enveloped ready to go along with covering letter (as its going to solicitors as it says that is the correspondence address). Will send acknowledgement to court also.

I agree with the advice you've had. If no reply to your letter by the time the Defence becomes due, then defend on the basis that the debt is not admitted and put them to proof. Admit nothing.
