I have had a debt recovery company get intouch to tell me I owe money from a payday loan taken out last year. I did take out a payday loan from the company (in fact at the time i took them out regularly) however after going through my bank statements carefully with my mother who is quite a financial whizz we can not see where this debt has come from. I told the debt recovery company I wanted to see the information pertaining to the original loan The debt recovery agency has told me that if I want more information I need to put it in writing and send a fee of £10. I just want to check that this is the best way to go about it? There is a chance that i do owe the money and in that case I will of course pay it but i beleive they should be able to prove exactly where the figure they are presenting me with is coming from.

Re: help with debt recovery company.
Also this £10 fee for a dsar is rubbish
for agreement, statement etc, it is whoever is demanding the money off of you is regarded as the creditor AND HAS TO COMPLY IF REQUESTED IN WRITING
this smells of an internal dca for the payday loan company

Re: help with debt recovery company.
I've had dealings with Red Castle on behalf of others. Unless I am very much mistaken, they are part of Gothia. I am attaching the OFT Debt Collection Guidelines so you can play Spot the Breaches.Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.
