I believe that these have something to do with Lowells , who have been pestering me for some time, over a debt that i know nothing about.

I sent them this by e-mail.

    Dear Sirs

    RE your ref: xxxxxxxx

This account has been the subject of numerous telephone calls over the past few years. I will again endeavour to explain the problem.
I believe that this debt relates to a mobile phone contract; I have never had a contract of this nature.
It is possible that my son (also D) took out a contract when he was living here; unfortunately he left this address in 2008 and moved abroad (Canada).
I have requested sight of the original contract which I believe would show the different date of birth if this is indeed the case. So far to no avail.
Your (and previous agencies) attempts to recover this money are slightly irritating it must be said, however I am a disabled person (and housebound)and really do not mind the odd call.
If you feel it necessary to send an agent I would be glad to explain the above yet again, I am sure we can manage a cup of tea at least.
As for court action, I would advise against it, I am a retired debt adviser and accustomed to the small claims court, and although my costs would be limited by statute I feel sure that I would be able to convince the court to make some award in such an obviously ill-founded( possibly vexatious) action.
In the vain hope that this eventually clears this matter up.

    Regards
    D (Senior)

Generally i ignore these, but i was bored

    Received this from them today

    Dear Mr D

Unfortunately your email did not pass our data protection checks.
In order for us to confirm that we are corresponding with the correct person we require the following information:

    Your full address
    Your date of birth

We can confirm that we will hold your account for 14 days to allow time for you receive our letter and to contact us accordingly. Please be advised that if you fail to contact us within 14 days, your account will be automatically returned to our collections process.

Once you have confirmed this information we will be able to authorise this email address and correspond via email in the future.

    Yours sincerely,

    Administrator

    TE HE

    Replied with this

There you have the problem, you will not have my details on file because i am not the person you are looking for, giving you my details would therefore serve no function, and would, as you must appretiate be unwise in the intersts of my own security.

I would suggest that since you seem unable to confirm my liability in this matter, the logical recourse would be to send a copy of any agreement to the address you have on file so that it can be verified.

I must remind you of OFT guidlines in these matters, and particularily the sanctions imposed on DCA's for pursuing accounts where the liability is disputed and unproven.

    Regards

          Hi

Had me worried there for a minute, it seems they are well known for sending speculative phishing invoices, quite a few threads OTR.

Fantastic Davyb, however, I do like the way that they attempted to get you to reveal your name and address hahahaha.

I see your BS detector is in good working order, Davy. Lol! What cheeky sods they are! I know of a case on LB, which is still active, where at least 11 breaches of the OFT Debt Collection Guidelines have been identified. The OP on that thread has already emailed OFT Credit Fitness Team. That one involves CapQuest.
