my brother has just had a call from a chap who sold his house 9 years ago. they are good friends.

my brothers ex moved into this house on a rental basis from the new owner

now this friend of my brother who used to own this house has just had a text from this debt collection agency chassing after his ex wife.

this chap called the dca, STATED IT IS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM, remove his details from their records

the DCA refused

i AM CONTEMPLATING SENDING THIS CHAP A S.10 DPA NOTICE to send onto these cretins and also CPUTR ETC

comments people and ill find out who this DCA are

Well, if the debt is solely in the ex's name then texting him is not allowed under debt collecting guidelines.

just found out this is SRJ debt collectors

they traced this chap through old adverts when he was in the building trade 10 years ago
He kept the same mobile number

Send an email to enquiries@oft.gsi.gov.uk and insert the words CREDIT FITNESS in the subject box. The guy you mention needs to report this to the OFT's Credit Fitness Team asap. As Leclerc says, what SRJ Debt Recoveries have done is a definite no-no under OFT Debt Collection Guidelines. The guy needs to quote the following in his complaint to the OFT -

The guy needs to give a clear and concise resume of his complaint. He should also report the matter to his local Trading Standards Department. He may also wish to contact the Information Commissioner's Office as well. Their website address is www.ico.gov.uk.
