capquest sent me a letter saying they were serving me with a stat demand for a debt dating back to 1997 for £970.they are saying i made a payment back in june of this year, which is not true, nothing has been paid since 1999, they saying they are going to show the debt on my credit report, any ideas?

Even if a payment was made of june this year

it would still be statute barred if a period of six years has elapsed without payment

a payment after the statute of limitations has expired does not restart the clock

once statute barred, allways statute barred

they cant touch your credit files

if they do serve a stat demand or trash your credit files, they will be paying you mega compo

All here say don't panic don't talk to them never admit anything wait to see what they come up with I personally wouldn't even give it a second thought but wait and see then get all the advice you need from the people on here. Keep everyone updated and don't worry.

hi its been so long I carn't remember but it was in the late 90's.
