  • Dca and facebook etc

just had an interesting conversation with a friend of my brothers

her son has just been tracked down by a dca trawling facebook. thats why i hate social media networking sites but the real problem is

they tracked down the sons facebook account by going through the mothers facebook account profile on the sly

so my question is how does the data protection act stand up to this practice of going through a third party without their knowledge to gain data on another party

DPA doesn't cover this at all.
Social networking sites are fair game for DCA and other tracers.

That's what happens when people make their profiles public. Set your profiles to friends and family only. People are far too generous with the information they allow cyberspace to give out about them.

What about DCA's tracking you down via credit reference agencies without prior consent or knowledge? In my case everyone's BFF Lowells! It REALLY makes my blood boil that any company willy nilly can input info into someone's credit report. I have put a disput notice onto my credit file saying that I do not have any financial association with this company (Lowells) and certainly NO credit agreement with them. Lets see where that takes me. Lowells have just recently inputed a Default on my credit file. I have always made paper aeroplanes out of crap-o-matics, opps mean letters, received from them and acknowledged nothing. Nothing seems sacred these days. Incidentally none of the 'letters' issued a default notice. BTW for any DCA reading this my favourite colour of underwear is .......... LOL
