Hi Guys have had a letter from Westcot claiming to be collecting an alleadged debt for Metropolitian, i have had no dealings with these, sent off a prove it letter, and have had we know where you live letter back from them, can two DCA's with no knowledge or agreements chase a maybe debt.

I believe Metropolitan are the in-house DCA for HSBC.

I have seen posts elsewhere that say Westcot do the searching, then pass the info back to Metropolitan.

Either way. until they show the manners to respond to your request there's nowt else to say.

They can set them onto you, but as CB said , until they prove the debt, you need have nothing to do with them. Saying they know where you live is hardly proving you owe money.

Further issue with metropolitian it may be linked with these posts, had a joint account with OH When hsbc came after me i told them nicely to go away, but they then went after OH via metropoltian she agreed to pay them a monthly sum, she has paid for the last 30 months but they have up't the anti with a letter stating that she has not kept to the arrangement, (totally untrue) with the usual crap, court bailiffs etc., she wants me to respond to them but not my take a hike style any ideas please.

Thee is only two ways to go with these people in my opinion, you either tell them to go away and file all their leters in the bin and put up with the phone calls. or you make an arrangement to pay.

If you do the latter you need to tell them that you are preparing an income and outgoings statement as you are commencing a debt management plan, they shoud then give you a few weeks breathing space. The plan will offer them a pro- rata payment out of any disposable income you may have.
If you decide to do this, come back on here and someone will give details of various free agencies that can help you negotiate with them and set the plan up.

I too take your approach tell them to take a hike my reason i cant pay if i could i would i get even more wound up when i read their stupid threatning letters i havent had any for a while cos they dont know where i live but guess what i shall do when it starts again all my creditors knew the situation but passed the debt collection on to these morons who i will never deal with as i have said on here before my only income is ares allowance im paid to look after my wife how much of that would they get?

Hi Wales01man I think the only avenue i have open so as not upset the OH on this one is to send a mildly threatening letter back and continue with the payments she has been making and see what they do next.

If the other OH has been paying for the last 30 months - Then simply state in your letter, that your OH has been paying the agreed repayment plan every month for the last 30 months. You are therefore in no position to demand payments from me for a debt that is owed by OH nor are you in a position to demand increased payments. By the way the queen and the prime minister know where i live too, but that doesn't mean i owe them money - Which is what you would like me to belive given your statement in your last letter saying you know where i live!

You can miss on the last bit if you like, just thought it might add a bit of humour and rub their noses in it a bit lol
