But you had not contacted them previously?

      What concerns me are
      1. the fact that they contacted you
      2. the bad advice given
      3. their telling you to contact Link

What is the name of this so-called 'debt management' company?

              Abs,

PLEASE don't plough the internet contacting debt advice firms. There's a lot of excellent advice on here, and certainly what you have been told so far is total rubbish and 100% untrue.

There are also many FREE debt advice companies out there who can help you including ones like Payplan, CCCS (The Consumer Credit Counselling Service), National Debtline etc... ALL of these will be at least as good, and often better than any paid for service.

However, do not rush into anything. They've taken three years - a few more days are not going to harm. Take time to calm down, let the initial panic subside, answer some questions on here and look at your options.

For the time being, do not part with one penny towards this debt, and certainly not towards getting advice on the way forward. :beagle:

So if you are not talking to your Dad how do you know that he has actually been paying for the car?

Also, who has possession of the car you or your Dad?

Is it insured and who pays the car insurance premiums?

If you do not live at home where the car is registered but you have the car with you at another address you must advise DVLC the change of address otherwise you could be in big bother.
