I would guess from the very first call, ringing the deceased into our care, arranging, getting paperwork in on time, preparing the deceased and taking them to the funeral home or clients home, chapel visits then the day of the funeral for a basic funeral i would guess about 20 hours ish. (this is several people all doing different jobs)
For a more complicated funeral easy 40 hours.

However i still dont have my answer but it looks like they are allowed to do it from the people i have rang so far.

Sounds rather far fetched!

Its 40 Man Hours

this includes collection of deceased, preparation of the remains and dressing of body, preparing coffin, arrangements interview and advice re registration of death. Typing newspaper notices and Orders of service, collection of paperwork, liasing with local clergy, arranging to have grave opened/ arranging cremation, preparation of newspaper notices, orders of serviceetc, floral tributes. Conveyance of deceased to Funeral Venue, conveyance of mourners and clergy if required Conveyance of deceased to Graveyard/Crematorium, conveyance of mourners and clergy if required
Prepartion of accounts, cleaning of vehicles completion of legal documents and information to Registration authorities etc etc etc. Dont forget A hearse requires a driver and a Funeral Director and the limousine requires a driver so at the very least thats 6 Man Hours

The NAFD used to estimate that it took 40 man hours to arrange a Funeral so £ 71.25 isnt a bad hourly rate plus the huge markup on a coffin exolains why most FDs are driving around in Jags or Mercs

The Jaguar XJ limo and hearse that Wilcox build look nice. Nice price, too. A snip at £120K each current list price! Or how about a Vauxhall Insignia limo and hearse at £69K each current list price. I believe Fearghas Quinn in Belfast does limos and hearses on the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia for about £60K per vehicle. Nice vehicles and nice guy,

Wilcox are among the top 10 hearse and limo builders in the world, apparently, along with Binz. The other large FD in Plymouth uses Ford Cardinals and Dorchesters built by Coleman Milne. He did change to Mercedes, but soon got rid of them because of reliability issues. He's now gone back to the Cardinals and Dorchesters and he's perfectly happy with them.

The Co-op in Plymouth used Wilcox Jaguars and Daimlers until they merged with Co-op nationally and now they use Mercedes E-Class built by Binz. Oh, if you want a laugh, there is a video on YouTube where a car magazine editor takes a Binz Hearse on a skidpan. Put "Can You Make A Binz Hearse Drift?" in the search engine.

IMHO, Undertakers charge too much!

However, the choice is up to families to make.

As I said its not that simple. There is only one place in the British Isles where you can bury a body at sea and even then you will need a Home Office Licence

Of course you can do it yourself just so long as nobody wants to view the deceased after death you can arrange all the paperwork and comply with the law.

I do agree with you that FDs charge far too much though

I agree funeral directors charge too much, i think the small independants are far more reasonably priced.

Skate boards? tbh with this company NOTHING would surprise me.

We have a limited service package which the NAFD say we need to offer. This is hearse only no cars as its discounted.

So if they require our bearers they will sometimes drive there in a limousine, a limousine if we werent so peevish about we could have allowed the family to have. but they dont allow it as the package is discounted so we turn up in an empty lim which really we could have let the family use.
