This bill is long overdue:
Fee Charging Debt Management Companies (Promotion of Free Debt Management Advice) Bill 2010-11 UK Parliament
It has been VERY well received so far. I'd almost go one step further and ask if we need Government funding for good debt advice nowadays as there are so many good, free, self-funding sites, charities etc... around, one has to question whether the money pumped into the government supported ones is money well spent.
This becomes particularly pertinent when one considers that Payplan / CCCS give a percentage cut to the Government for the work they do, so can they really be said to be impartial and free?
Quite a big issue really. This is certainly a step in the right direction.
