My debt has been passed to the Norwegian debt collection agency, Aktiv Kapital.
From the outset, there 'management' of my account has been appalling and illegal. They ignore all letters and documents I send to them by recorded delivery. They failt to acknowledge my monthly payments in line with the agreement. They threaten to send field agents to my home address. They are claiming the original debt is over £400 higher than it acutally is ? They are demanding payment of an additional £1000 already paid ! I write to them, they then write back, saying I haven't contacted them - a complete lie.
In short, they are blatantly breaking the law. I am exasperated with having to keep writing to them, saying the same things. They are clearly playing a game. I have explained I am unemployed, but they ignore this and keep trying to bully me into payments I cannot possibly afford and money previously paid. They appear to be a bunch of Scandinavian crooks (I can imagine some neo-Nazi psycho like Anders Brevik heading their company, as they seem to be totally out of touch with reality !).
I have written to the FOS, who are very good, however, are probably inundated at this time with many such requests for help against bent debt collectors.
What else can I do ?
Also, it's bad enough having debt collection agencies, but why allow foreign ones to operate here, harassing people. I bet Norwegians aren't being chased up by British debt collectors.
