I am new to this. I have a debt with Barclaycard which was taken out in 2000. I have had no contact off them for 7 years. The debt has now passed to Cabot. I have used template letters as appeared in previous posts.
They have now sent what they say is a credit agreement.
I think it looks very suspect. The personal details are all typed with a box in the corner with a signature. how can i find out if this ok.
Also the debt now stands at £7,000 and I am sure that the credit limit would of been only £5000.
Can anyone suggest a way forward

So, you neither acknowledged the debt in writing or made a payments for a period of 6 years at least (5 if you are in Scotland)?

If so, then the debt would be statute barred and unenforceable against you, and requesting copies of credit agreements was not really the way to approach things at first.

Simply writing telling them that the debt is statute barred and to "bog off" would have been better.

If the debt is statute barred, then there is different template on here somewhere.
