In regards to the business debts, did your OH sign up to the credit agreements as a guarantor and was the business registered as limited or LLP etc? Given that your OH was a shareholder then depending on the legal structure of the company and if he did not sign the credit agreements as a guarantor, then he probably is not liable for the business debts, but we need to know what type of company it was to be certain.
As for MBNA if your certain the application form is valid and contains all the perscribed terms then i would seriously consider bankruptcy as advised by casper and others here.
