  • Debt Agency Visit to home

    Hi to Everyone

New to this site can anyone can help me with advice?

A debt agency sent someone round to my home without any notification and

as I wasnt home put a slip thro my letterbox.

However I thought I saw someone knocking on the neighbours door earlier

and I wondered if this was actually the agent who delivered the note.

Or did he deliver it to my neighbours and she put it through mine?

Can they just come round and can they deliver notes to someone elses home?

    Any advice?

    Who are they?
No they cannot deliver a note to your neighbour since this is against OFT Debt Collection Guidance.

They can only visit you if they have agreed a prearranged appointment with you.
I'd be inclined to write to them and tell them you have had two calls, both without prior arrangement and you believe this to be contrary to current debt collection legislation. You withdraw the right for any of their agents or appointed agents to enter your land and you will only communicate in writing for the avoidance of doubt. Ask them not to contact you to arrange an appointment as you will not communicate with them in this way, insist any charges incurred for these two visits are removed and that is confirmed to you in writing. Any future visits will be deemed as harassment and they will be reported directly to the OFT.
