    hi crispy im new to leagal beagles found your thread on dca letters very intresting im having a rather annoying problem with calbot finance which i need advice on in 2002 got a credit card with the assocates limit 200.00 basically fell on hard times and fell behind with payments they sold debt to calbot calbot then added charges on of around 600.00 pounds calbot told me that on the original credit aggrement for every day i didnt pay charges would be added i have constantly asked them for a copy of this agrrement they have never to this day sent it using every excause under the sun basically i caved in and started paying them because of all the pressure they were giving me over a year ago i stopped paying i have paid calbot a total of 566.00 for a original debt of 200.00 as far as im concerned ive paid the debt twice plus intrest and i aint paying another penny they now keep telling me they want another 862.00 off me so on top of the 566.00 ive already paid a 200.00 debt has turned into 1428.00 they have now got another DCA acting for them to try and claim this amount back for them the company is called FIRE basically they started sending me same old threating letters but last week they sent one and stated they they were going to turn up at my place of work which concerns me im a bit gray with my rights so basically what id like advice on is can they turn up at my work ive heard they cant were do i stand with all these charges calbot have added on can theu force me to pay and if calbot are so desperate for me to pay this alleged debt why dont they take me to court and try and get a country court judgment against me sorry for the ramble but id be very grateful for some sound advice on this one

      hi angry cat need some sound advice please 10 years ago got into financal hardship basically had bank loan and credit card with alliance and lester struggled to make payments they then sold it to teressa holdings made a couple of minium payments then teressa holdings just went off the radar no more letters phone calls etc which i found very strange ?? that was 9 years ago so that makes the loan etc status barred 4 years ago mackenzie hall contacted me stating they now owed the debt went down correct procideure telling them status barred etc after a year of back and forward with them they stopped no letters etc thats 3 years ago this sept heard nothing for 5 months then 2 years ago gone feb rockwell debt collection wrote they now own the debt they got told the same as mack hall after 3 threat letters off them no more contact heard nothing for 2 years until last week fenton cooper contacted me stating they now owe the debt fenton cooper and rockwell both belong to teressa holdings so why would rockwell pass the debt onto fenton cooper some sound advice would b

        They have bought a lemon my friend and this is DCA normal practice to try and frighten you.

        Tell them straight out, if they have a case then go to court. If they don't then go away or words to that effect. I am pretty sure this shower will not go anywhere near a courtroom with this.

          Continuing to press for payment after a debtor has stated that they will not be paying a debt because it is statute barred could amount to harassment contrary to section 40(1) of the administration of justice act 1970.
