      Re: Lowells little April fools

I got a few more letters after that. they ignored what I sent them. Eventually the letters stopped.

Though funny you brought it up, I was at a family function recently and my father (who also shares the same first name as me) has started getting letters about the same debt and asking for payment. Clearly they have searched back electroal roll over the years and found that there were two people with the same name living in a house together in the 80's and have decided to chase my dad instead as he has the same name as me

The problem is, lowells already tried that about 5 years ago for an alleged debt to barclays. Someone opened accounts in my name after I moved. The bank and Lowells couldnt get hold of me as I lived overseas so decdied to pursue my dad, including searching and defaulting his credit file. He wrote to lowell, who ignored him and carried on regardelss. He logged an ICo complaint and the ICo followed up with lowells. They apologised and said it wouldnt happen again, and the ICO said that they should never chase dad again for debts that are not his.

Of course, what are they doing now

The case has been re-opened with the ICO.

        Tut, tut, tut, naughty Lowell!

Perhaps, they are not aware up the new updated 'Debt Collection' Guidance (issue: October 2011)?
