  • CRAs: Settled Accounts With Adverse Data

Anyone any suggested strategies in getting old settled accounts removed from my credit files within 6 years of settlement date? I have one old account, settled, with half a dozen late payment markers and because it was paid up within 3 years of the missed payments, these markers have been "frozen in time" on my credit file.

Which bank is it and do you still bank with them?

I know it's easy to speak with hindsight, but if you're in this situation again, say you will only settle the debt as long as they remove all adverse data on your CRF and get it in writing!

I have ploughed everything I can find on this for you, but sadly with no success. The only way it happens is to appeal to the better nature of the Data Controller from what I've read, and even then the chances of success are very minimal.

Sorry to be the provider of bad news, but I have honestly spent ages on this. I hope someone else manages to come up with something for you!

cheers casp. yeah, i have written to the data bod at the finance house but i know what they'll say. have to do it though, for my own sake.

I will try and stir things up with a SAR, see what mischief i can conjure up in retaliation.

BTW, how up are you on this problem? link attached http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...ar-old-Default
