Re: Offer of the Day
I would write and ask them, not phone, you need things like this in writing.Originally posted by Lowry123 View PostCan somebody help....I am happy to pay the matched offer in the attached letter the debt is £392..... will the debt agency then mark the account as settled......any advice please
Is the debt definately theirs, they are not collecing it on behalf of someone else?

Re: Offer of the Day
I think I'd be inclined to ignore that letter but reply with a full and final offer. If you can find £500 to match what they have offered there is a good chance they will accept somewhere around that but I'd start a bit lower.

Re: Offer of the Day
The debt is for £392.... so the settlement is £196......I have seen all the proof they bought the debt from MBNA....so its all legal.....was paying £3.00 a mnth...stopped paying as tried to settle with them they offered 10% then 20% now got the letter saying 50%....also claimed back PPI from MBNA on this account and charges total of £840.00
so to settle now at 50%....seems ok to close the account down....
as they offer shouldnt they write to CRAs and mark account as settled.... and not partial settlement cos this is there offer?

Re: Offer of the Day
Dear Sirs
Your attached letter refers.
Before I go ahead and raise the money to accept your offer of settlement. Can you confirm the following if the terms are met in your offer letter.
' Experto to notify the credit reference agencies to update your credit file as satisfied with a zero balance', confirmed that OH would 'have no further liability to the outstanding balance' and that 'we will also ensure that neither ourselves, nor any associate company will take any action to pursue or enforce the above account.' .
is this ok to send or should I just send the cheque

Re: Offer of the Day
I must admit to be sceptical of these type of offers, but if you can agree the terms of the F&F then go for it and make sure you have it in writing.
Getting them to make the CRA's as cleared with zero balance rather than settled would be better.
