Earlier this year (February) my son had a minor bump in my car, owned registered and insured with Swiftcover fully comp, with my son as a named driver. I took the car to Swifts approved repairer who took photos and said the car was "beyond economic repair" I took the car home and saw a friend who said it was easily repairable, by the way I am a mechanic, army trained for what thats worth and my friend is a qualified body repairer with his own business. I elected to repair the car myself, but swift say I have to take the car back to their repairer for more photos and to be stripped, they then said that due to the cost of stripping they may retain the car. I said no and now they are trying every trick in the book to avoid paying. After excesses and other costs, there is between 300 and 600 pounds of value left in the car. On a different note I cancelled my direct debit and it seems there is one payment left of £41, as they didnt want to pay me I have held back that payment as I felt I have not received value for money. They have now set their attack dogs on me, namely regal cedit and scotcall debt collectors. I now plan in the light of this to pay swiftcover the money and try to sue them through the small claims section of the county court for the outstanding value left in my car. How should I deal with Scotcall? as they seem to have been set on me by regal, who by the way had not bought the debt from Swiftcover. Advice and views please as the phone calls and threatening letters are getting to be a nuisance. Thanks in advance Cch.

Re: Insurance Co not paying out
If you can afford to pay the 41 quid, then do so, because swifts may try to wriggle out of paying anything for the car.
Then when the scum bag dca phone, you can give them the finger.
In the meantime, get a few prices of your cars model, so you will have proof of its worth.
Obviously, you dont accept the first offer they make.
