  • CCCS

Does anybody know if this is a reputable company. My stepson is with them for two credit card debts and after 6-8 months with them the credit card bills are still accruing interest.

Would I be right to advise him to get rid of CCCS and manage things with advice from me via this site.

Thanks! It seemed strange to me that they haven't managed to freeze interest despite expenditure being more than income. Did I say stepson - I'm losing it! Stepdaughter! Got it right now!

I've asked her to fill in an IE sheet for us to have a look at and see what action people advise from there once we know the full situation.

        Hiya

LOL, don't worry I come out with the wrong names sometimes lol, we all do it.

Anyway if you require any templates in regards of freezing the interest, in the 2nd link I posted "National -debtline" click on the map for the where you live, England/Wales/Scotland etc and then it takes you to a page of sample template letters.

Just checked on the Nat debtline as well, you can work out the budgets on there too, weekly or monthly etc.

              Re: CCCS

That is what surprised me, they are still charging full rate interest despite this hardly reducing the debt to them each month and making her further and further in debt. Somewhat defeating the point!

                Re: CCCS

I went through similar issues when my hubby lost his job and ran into difficulties then too.

The bank did not accept freezing the interest but it was getting all out of control, even though we previously turned to the CCCS for help, they gave us guidance but we made our own arrangements, they will do this for you though on request.

So with them not freezing the interest it was just adding up on the debt, I made a complaint to explain this, and because they did not resolve this I made a complaint to the FOS, it was down to the FOS they did end up freezing the interest from the time I first complained, so they backdated and refunded the charges towards the account which reduced the balance and compensated redress directly to me.
The FOS did this under hardship for us.

So anyone in the same position keep trying and if they don't do anything by 8 weeks, move on to the FOS, your account is therefore in dispute until sorted by the FOS, but if you have payment plans in place I still suggest you continue to pay that payment, or at least pay what you can.

Di you are a star! Don't you ever sleep? I'll wait till I hear from my stepdaughter now which I suspect will be tomorrow (hope she proves me wrong).

Must be something about the name - my wife is Di and she's brilliant - so are you! Thanks!

Doesn't look like Matthew has logged on here since June.

There is an equivalent thread on MSE though, where CCCS advisors answer questions most weekdays.

Might be worth a shot as well?

I'm really hpoing my stepdaughter will live up to her promise and come up with the IE sheet tomorrow. Without knowing exactly what we're tackling it's very hard to try to help. She's taken the right first step in letting us know the situation and has obviously already sought sound advice from CCCS, but there are some questions already there - these may increase in number when I see the IE sheet, so thanks for the other ways of contacting them everybody!
