  • student loan overpayment

    Hi folks,
This is just a warning to keep an eye on things, because i have sorted this out now, but my student loan was passed on to Lewis Group (DCA) and i have been paying them for years. About 2 months ago i asked them when the laon would be paid off as i had a feeling it should be soon (i know i was a bit vague here, but foolishly trusted a big organisation like student loans to let me know once it was paid in full). I had a reply from student loans saying it was paid, no dates or anything, so i rang them yesterday. Turns out it was paid in full on 15th March. Lewis have continued taking £60 per month since then and I am now in credit by over £300!! Both companies blamed the other for the mess.

Anyway, they are going to give me the money back without any arguing ( I should bloody well think so) But just wanted to let people know to keep a close eye on things.

    Nice one Angel.

Just goes to show how important it is to check, check and double check.

I live in Canada, and I was discharged from my bankruptcy December 2006. At the time I filed, I had student loans, and they weren't forgiven, of course. I think they are at about $10,000. I have been told I cannot get student loans now for a few years. So, I'm kind of screwed. Even to get loans to study in a different country. To study in a different country, I have to get loans from my country, and not the other country. Is it right?

How do I go about getting a loan to get a car?I am a college student and I am trying to buy my neighbor's car which he has said he would sell to me for $9,000. So I am also trying to sell my car to start getting the money for the car but I am not having much luck selling it.
