  • A demand for a debt that we never had

Hi. Please see the attached pdf as a demand for payment for a debt that as far as the OH is concerned she has cleared. Now there was an outstanding amount that she cleared last year through Westcott

She received a demand from Past Due Credit Solutions on behalf of Bskyb.Ltd for £10.00 in February, a debt that she never owed. After a search on the internet I discovered that this was quite a common complaint about these people and took it as a scam. She was advised by her Step Dad to ignore it. I told her to write to them and ask them to prove the debt. She chose to ignore the letters sent to her and filed them in the bin. Now we have received this from Philips.

Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Hi HKdloz

I've unapproved your attachment because it contains your OH name and address details.
Please scan it without and re-attach.

I'm no expert on Debt collection letters, but this looks like a fishing letter, your OH has probably been filing this correspondence in the right place!
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

HUH? They are chasing you for £10, it has moved from one DC to another and no fees have been added? Strange smell about this one.

Yes.......... This is what I am saying but.... we just want them to go away and I was wondering what the best way of (legally) doing it. A nice letter full of all the legal jargon etc asking them to prove it or crawl back into the scamming hole they came from.

Just send them the prove it letter and they will probably crawl back under their stone never to be heard from again.

Good advice, Wendy. It is obviously a phishing/scammy type of letter that the DCA have sent out. I suspect that they send out large numbers of these to unsuspecting people who actually owe nothing, many of who just send 10 quid to shut them up. Nice little earner if you are a crook.
              Thanks!
