Alliance and Leic debt passed to Rockwell - Question

Anyone

Rockwell are chasing me for a debt passed to them by the A & L. What I need to know is this. How do I confirm who actually OWNS the debt now? Are Rockwell the agent for A & L or have the A & L actually sold the debt to Rockwell? If it goes to court who will contest the debt? Will it be Rockwell or the A & L?

no idea. Is that the procedure then? I have to access my credit file to confirm ownership of the debt?

I assumed that if rockwell were chasing me for the debt that they themselves had bought the debt from the A & L? Obviously not.

How do I check my credit file then please?

Rockwell may have brought the debt off A&L or they may be acting on behalf of A&L.

Unless the actually own the debt then as far as i know they cannot sue you in there name for the debt. Only the owner can do this.

You can write the CRA's and ask for you credit file i think i cost £3.00 (sure someone will correct this if i am wrong). I would not use the internet based services as they tend to be expensive.

Once you have worked out who owns the debt you can take it from there.
