probably a Abbey old account, I just had crapquest write saying I owed money to Abbey but a great discount 50% if pay now, uh? all statute barred accounts they have bought by the looks of it, Abbey years ago I did not bother with them after I cancelled a standing order which they ignored my instructions must be 15-18 yrs ago. Still treating phishing letter as a no reply.masbeagle The account would still be £20 or more in credit if they had actioned my request as I remember.

That was my thread (I think)!and I'm not green and slimmy - I'm blond and gorgeous! On the serious side these letters do rattle you but you only have to look to LB for moral support and realise these DCA's and their threatening letters (including home visits) are as toothless as they come.

          Take care

After receiving several (hundred in my case) DCA missives I soon came to the conclusion that they never actually read what they send out anyway.
It's all automated, just like their phone calls

Re: Telogram on behalf of CapQuest ?

Thought I would just update you. Following on from the letter from HL Legal, I sent them a letter as I said (no signature and no personal address)....before I'd even had a response, I received yet another direct from CapQuest saying I owed a massive debt to Abbey, that they would be generous and offer me 50% discount but if I didn't pay by X date they would want the full amount as was legally payable......I know it's not legally payable...I don't know anything about said debt and have a horrible feeling this is down to ex running up in my name....either way it's statute barred......so I wrote back similar letter to them again.

I have now received a letter from CapQuest accepting that the account is closed and I owe nothing.......so despite the advise on here to ignore, personally I feel I did the right thing.....they can't do anything and are trying it on....unfortunately for them I know my rights and thanks to several websites was able to put together a well-written letter stating my "rights" and it's worked.......

So thanks to everyone for the advise....but I'm glad I wrote to them as have more pressing personal stuff to worry about and didn't want to be bombarded with letters from them.....matter should be closed with them now.
