Thank you so much Tools for pointing me in the direction of the threads above, specifically your own! I received a letter back from B-card (within a week of them receiveing my letter)!! They state that they are prepared to credit me with £160 and £12.80 interest at 8% f&f settlement of my claim. I'm chuffed with that as hadnt planned to reclaim anything!!

They state in the letter that the agency responsible for my account (used to be a DCA but now its back with b-card) has been notified and your account balance will be amended accordingly. Thing is my account has been in default for years now and I pay them monthly. Ideally I'd like a cheque instead of it going off the balance as I'm trying to also negotiate a f&f figure with them. Can I write to them asking they send the cheque in my name to me instead of crediting my account??

A HUGE thanks to Tools :tinysmile_twink_t2: Thanks for the pointer :cheer2: & I shall be making a wee donation to the site in your honour!!

Twas so easy I'm amazed lol :cheer2::cheer2: & I intend to pass that letter onto other b-card members I know!

Re: Barclaycard Charges (Big thanks to Tools)

Have been busy this week so have only just seen this thread.

      Great news and well done.

As for asking them for a cheque in your name, to be perfectly honest my own opinion is that it should go towards servicing the debt, if it is sent directly to you it is too tempting just to blow it elsewhere.

How much is remaining on the account and with which DCA is it at present or is it definitely back with Barclaycard on a reduced payment arrangement?

As for donating, that is very kind and very much appreciated as donations are the only way the site is funded, without which we wouldn't be able to continue. May I suggest you also benefit from your donation by looking into becoming a VIP member, have a read HERE

If you know of more Barclaycard holders with charges then feel free to use that letter as much as you like, it can also be adapted for any credit card lender. If you can also ask them to register on Beagles then we can guage their successes in order to benefit everyone trying to reclaim.

Many thanks again for keeping us informed, I hope we can help you, or someone you know, with any other issues you may have.

It would've went on the debt anyways but had planned to lump it into the offer that I make them. But didnt bother writing about a cheque in my name.

Tools, the DCA that I was paying was Robinson Way, payment went directly from my bank and I rang them up one month (after a few years) to check on the balance and I was told that account was back with Barclaycard and they have just been forwarding on my payment. I then rang barclaycard and they confirmed the account was back with them and said I didnt need to change the payment details as the payments were being forwarded to b-card from RW but I said I would prefer to pay directly to b-card, so I changed the standing order to them. But in there letters they always seem to refer to the 'agency responsible for my debt'.... there is no outside company its THEM!! Strange!

Oh the balance is approx £650, they sent me a letter on 17/08/09 but I'm not sure if that is before or after the refund, I'm thinking before as they only notified me of the refund a few days before. I've sent them a letter asking anyways.

Welcome to VIP too and thank you once again for your donation, much appreciated. Have a good look around the forum again, there should now be many more areas available to you.

As for the remaining balance, wait a week or so then see what is remaining, then maybe contact them to see what they would accept as F&F.

Good to hear of success. Always remember 'Don't ask don't get' . Being polite costs nothing and often reaps rewards.
Remember Christmas is a time for giving Love and Time to your loved friends and family not pressies that you can't really afford. A worry free friend or relative is a better person for ever than a worry filled person who has blown the budget over Christmas and suffers for it the rest of the year. Small is beautiful and should be graciously received. Please remember to say thank you too. Break the cycle of spending more and more. Agree a small limit with your group and stick to it. It is amazing what you can get for £5 with a little more thought and effort. Your friends and family might be relieved too as it will take the pressure off them.
Have a Happy Christmas and a worry free New Year.
Sent with love to all Kiwicat.

Damn you, I think that beats my 9 day record, they are now working on ESP.

Seriously though, have you not requested the charges back at any point?

Seriously, I would phone and check that what they have paid you is yours as it may have been given to you in error, nice as it may seem I have never known any company to refund without being asked..... or is this the sign of things to come. If you spend it believing this to be your refund and then it is an error you will have to pay it back.

But hey if it is all yours then this is wonderful news and well done Barclaycard xx

Thanks Tools and Tuttsi all i can think is the date the money has been put back into my Barclaycard account is the day after the test case in the supreme court, did the judge mention anything about credit cards in his summing up? I cant spend the money as it has just been taken off my balance.

                            Hi Banjoe

The test case as far as I am aware had nothing at all to do with credit cards, so I do not think that is the reason.

But regardless I would still phone them and check it out.

Being a newly enrolled VIP and having just found this thread can I ask a simple question ( or two ). Do I take it that the charges that were added to my Crap1 CC can be reclaimed by submitting Tools letter?. My failure to keep up payments started in 2000 when I was made redundant and I immediately contacted Crap1 and negotiated a payment plan. The contact " promised me faithfully " that they would stop adding interest and late payment charges but, of course, they continued to do so for the following six months. Are these the charges that I can reclaim?. I do have a letter from April 2001 that states that they will refund these charges when the account is ended and I, assume, that the account was closed when they defaulted me and sold me on to Link Financial??. All help gratefully received. regards
