  • Link threatening a default 15 months after assignation of debt

    Hi all,

1st post here. I got a letter yesterday from Link Financial about an old debt I had with JD Williams. The debt was assigned to LC Asset 2 SARL on 1 October 2024 according to the letter.

The letter says I've breached the payments clause of my agreement, subsequently accruing £15 in arrears that they want me to pay before 20th March otherwise they'll register a default against me. The original account did fall into arrears and subsequently it was sold on although I don't recall to whom and it would have been around 2023/24.

I'm unsure why after some 15 months since the alleged assignation why Link would decide to contact me and threaten me with a default? Surely they've had plenty of time to do that before now? Not sure how to proceed with this.
