  • Cabot Financial - some thoughts please plus some help please

Hello - Good afternoon, this is my 1st post and I wonder if I can get some feedback on what to do re this attached letter from Cabot Financial - it is dated January 2025 but I get a letter every month and in the past they have visited my address as they put a card through my letter box. This relates to a veery old debt I had with Mint - it is definitely over 10 years old. I used to pay via StepChange but then I stopped - I am overwhelmed currently with debt. I then went with Galahad & Co who are now dissolved but they did let me know the debt was not enforceable - since Galahad & Co have now dissolved - they write and phone every month - I just don't have an extra penny to pay - what are anyone thoughts? I hope I can get some help as to what I can do. Thank you in advance.

I cannot seem to upload the letter - So I have typed it out

Miss ...... You need to set up a payment

You haven't go an arrangement in place for your MINT Mastercard Gold - Credit card. This account needs to be repaid. We will continue t contact you by letter, email, phone and text untill you have a payment plan in place. Use our website to set up an affordable arrangement. You can choose how much you repay, and can update your pan when you need to.

If you don't start repaying your account, we may have to consider sending an agent to your home to put you back in touch with us.

    Hi Sueyen

    Welcome to LB

    Try not to worry.

If they send an agent, he has no 'powers' at all. You don't have to open the door, he / she will just go away.

You could send Cabot a CCA request, see what they send back, see if the agreement is compliant.

https://legalbeagles.info/forums/ (look at 'shortcuts' on the right hand side)

    It maybe 'unenforceable'.

Update the thread once you get a response.

          Good evening

Merry belated Christmas and would like to say hope 2026 is a good year for all.

I have heard back from Cabot financial regarding the letter template that I used from this excellent site - my account is currently unenforceable but the balance remains payable and due.

in a separate letter Cabot have offered me 75% off. I still can’t afford this.

is there another template letter I can use - as I’m guessing they are going to continue to write and write and write which may be their right.

i have also sent the request for my information to Link Financial and will be sending one soon to PRA Group.

Look forward to any replies that I can get with regards to Cabot - I would ideally like Cabot to stop contacting me - I’ve had a letter monthly for at least a year and a half.

          kind regards

They can ask for the money, but they can't enforce the debt through the Courts.
They are wasting their time. It's their time to waste with no 'end result'.

Keep a diary, update if it becomes 'Harassment.

Thank you - one more question please - what would be classed as harassment? Would a letter a month be classed or could be classed especially now they know it’s unenforceable?

              kind regards

No, you need evidence to show it's 'unreasonable behaviour', so although you think / feel it
might be. The Creditor can still chase the debt owed, as long as it's done in a reasonable way.

Harassment, example would be daily letters, daily calls, etc you are a long way off that.

                    Hello

i sent Link Financial a CCA request on 6th December and to date I have had no response - do you have a template letter that I can send them? To ask for an update on my request - I have proof that it was delivered.

Thanks in advance for your help.

                    regards

I don't think you need to send a follow up letter, they haven't complied with your request.
The account isn't 'enforceable' until they provide a compliant copy of your CCA.

Update when they send it through.

Thank you for your reply - I appreciate it.

Im feeling relieved - Cabot unenforceable, Link probably unenforceable - just PRA Grp to go.

                        kind regards

                          Good morning

just getting back in touch and again looking for some advice - in regards to my request for the CCA from Link Financial they returned the £1.00: - with a note to say that they do not charge for the service that is all - no letter to say the debt is unenforceable - I now have a letter from Resolvecall saying to contact within 7 days otherwise a representative will make a personal visit - I know they have no powers so I simply will just ignore them - do I respond to Resovecall to say I’ve requested my CCA from Link Financial? I’m thinking they are selling the debt on again? Or do I just allow it to happen and request the CCA from ReslveCall?

PrA Group replied to say the debt is unenforceable - this letter is dated 25/03/2026 and then another letter dated 23/03/2026 saying that despite repeated attempts to contact me thettgey have not received a response which is untrue as I requested my CCA - so maybe crossed wires - the letter of 23/03/2026 says unless they hear from me by 02/04/2026 the debt will be passed to Credit Security Ltd - it seems like I have no choice and this is there right - when this happens do I just request the CCA from Credit Security Ltd?

                          Appreciate any help in this.

Seems like this will never end .

                          looking forward to some help.

                          kind regards

                            Try not to worry.

                            a) I now have a letter from Resolvecall saying to contact within 7 days otherwise a representative will make a personal visit - I know they have no powers so I simply will just ignore them - do I respond to Resovecall to say I’ve requested my CCA from Link Financial? I’m thinking they are selling the debt on again? Or do I just allow it to happen and request the CCA from ReslveCall?

I would just leave it. Ignore Resolve Call, they'll get the message that you don't want to engage and they are wasting their time.

                            b) the letter of 23/03/2026 says unless they hear from me by 02/04/2026 the debt will be passed to Credit Security Ltd - it seems like I have no choice and this is there right - when this happens do I just request the CCA from Credit Security Ltd?

CS do the same thing as Resolve Call, so don't engage.

                            Just keep updating the thread.
