  • Help with letter from Overdale Solicitors Please

I received a letter last week which was sent to my last address, which the present occupiers gave me, regarding an alleged debt of £620. so I wrote to Overdales and they say I owe them this money which is for an unpaid phone bill/ sky account. I did not know I owed this money and so I contacted Overdales, to which they responded by post regarding the details.

The last payment they say I made to the phone company I had an agreement with was in december 2013.

The last payment I made toward the Sky agreement was made in October 2014.

Obviously I had no Idea I owed any money to this company, and since it's been such a long time I cannot even remember. But they certainly got my address right. But they also say a CCJ has been issued that I am aware of in 2020, to which I have no awareness of either. They say I was to pay £100 a month.

I am very doubtful of this, as I have checked my credit file and nothing is on it, and for all the times past, I have been able to get credit easily with no problem,

Idont know what to do next, as I did try to contact them by registering on their website, but their system would not let me upload my current address, and they asked me to take a screen shot.
I tried to phone them too, but was held in a cue and I dont have unlimited phone data.

bit of a tricky situation but I want to get to the bottom of all of this amicably, but I am not up on the legal side of things, and what to ask for to make sure I am not being scammed.

    Thanks a bunch

    Hi Blueginger

    Welcome to LB

Check the following site to see if there is a record of a CCJ, there is a small fee.
Even if there is, the Creditor would have to return to Court to proceed with the CCJ.
The issue for them is that they would need a very good reason as to why they
have left it so long. If the CCJ was obtained in 2020, it would still appear on your
    Credit File.

If there is a CCJ, the debt can't be Statute Barred, if there isn't the debt might be
    Statute Barred.

If there isn't a CCJ, lodge a formal complaint, follow the creditors complaints
procedure on their website, they shouldn't try to mislead you.
