I was hoping someone might have some advice re: the following, Letter received 08/01/25 Dryden requesting payment for CCJ issued 18 June 2019 for 2.5k to client interim Poplar. I do not know exactly what it is for, am not sure where to check and what the procedure is. If anyone is able to give me some information on how CCj s work, the pre 6 yr period ( and if applicable- from what I’ve read on here it is not?) and how I can find out what this is about. Thank you so much in advance if anyone is able to assist.

Hi Fran89
Welcome to LB
To check, there is a valid CCJ check on, there is a small fee - https://www.registry-trust.org.uk/rt-learn-ew/what-ccj/
If you were unaware of the CCJ, i.e. you did not receive the Court papers then you can get it set aside, you would need evidence, say tenancy agreement. If you can get Consent from the Creditor, then the fee would be less, but you would need to write to them.

if you do owe the money, you can fill in an I and E form, take into consideration the 'cost of living', pay a monthly amount.

If the CCJ is valid, the company that has purchased the judgement debt (Intrum) can try to enforce the debt without the court's permission as the judgement date is not 6 years old until June this year
Dryden's letter looks authentic, so I suspect the CCJ will to.
Dryden's letter, dated 8 January, states you must contact them within 14 days of the date of the letter, to avoid the solicitor starting enforcement action
You should act quickly as over 3 weeks have passed since 8.1.2025
