  • Letter from Resolvecall

    Hi,

This morning I have received a letter from Resolvecall to say I owe Halifax £1436.00.

As far as I was aware I have not owed anything to the Halifax in at least 20 years so so, this letter came completely out of the blue and now they are threatening that someone will come to my home if I do not reply.

Can someone please help and suggest how I should tackle this as it has completely threw me and I feel so upset that this is now happening when I have not received any letters or anything from the Halifax if I have owed them money.

Surely they would have chased it before now.

    Thanks in advance.

Is this a debt that you did originally incur? ie it isn't a case of mistaken identity?

Were you ever taken to court for the debt and got a CCJ (County Court Judgement) against you? Have you (or anyone on your behalf) in the last 6 years made any payments or acknowledged to Halifax or any debt collector that you owe the money? If the answer to all those is 'No' then it looks the debt is statute barred. Send them our statute barred letter

You can add to the letter that all correspondence with you must be by post and Resolvecall must not come to your house or contact you by any other method. Get a Proof of Posting from the Post Office.

Do Resolvecall have your correct current address on their letter?

It was a loan which as far as I'm aware was paid off years ago. I have not made any payments in over 6 years and I have not received any letters or CCJs from Halifax or anyone on their behalf during that time.

It came completely as a shock, sur9if I owed money they would have chased before now.

Thanks for your advice, I will send the letter you suggested and ask them to communicate as you mentioned.

Yes, they have the correct address details.
