  • DCA's letter quiz

So, I have a quick quiz for you all to see if you have been paying attention to my posts and advice.

Attached is a letter I received yesterday.
What should I do and why ??

You don't really need any background as this is based purely on this letter..

Send them the CCA request and a Telephone Harrassment letter for good measure Just in case they decide to call you of course. Hopefully that will return the debt to the original creditor.

File the letter away with all the other rubbish they have obviously been sending you.

            I'll get to that later

All the clues are contained in the letter.

              Re: DCA's letter quiz

Well for a start off you need to point out to them that random sprinklings of bold type and using capital letters where there is no need for them gives them absolutely no more importance than any other junk mail you get through your letterbox!

Also point out that it is NOT a "LEGAL NOTICE". It may well be a notice advising you that they are threatening to take legal action, but a Legal Notice it certainly is not

I would ask them for a breakdown of the alleged debt etc. Chuck in a copy of the OFT guidlelines and highlight the bit about harassment of debtors etc.

If all these are wrong answers, then I give up. Chuck it in the bin.

                Re: DCA's letter quiz

I'd follow all the of the above, plus report them to OFT, FOS for threatening action they can not possibly follow up on.

if you have already sent a prove it letter and they haven't be able to prove the debt - i'd send them a letter saying how delighted you are about the forthcoming court proceedings and could they get a shift on as it will save you the money of having to submit a claim against them and of course you wil be counter claiming against them!!!

Well so far so good, but you are all thinking way too much into this.

As I say ALL the clues are in the letter.

                    Re: DCA's letter quiz

I would do nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing. The letter is there to scare you signed generically and is a printed generic letter. Let's wait for a proper letter from a proper person.

Getting closer there Nattie, but the printed signature isn't the real reason

Leave it open for a bit longer and see if anyone twigs it

Is it something to do with them acting on behalf of AK when GE is the original (well alledged) creditor??

I give up - please tell me I hate being in suspenders!!!!
