Moorcroft credit Search

Hi there,

I have a very old debt which was passed to Moorcroft in September. The debt is extremely old , we defaulted back in 2011 and no longer shown on my credit file. I have sent a CCA request which has yet to be responded to but have just discovered that they did a hard search back in September on my credit file. I have asked for it to be removed but this has been refused. I just wanted to check as I am sure I read something years ago that once a debt had fallen off of a credit file a search could no longer be performed. Its very likely I am incorrect so feel free to put me straight if this is the case.
Also do Moorcroft usually purchase debts or are they just a collection agency please as I have read varying information.

as far as I know this is mostly a collection agency

A debt remains a debt forever until paid but cannot be enforced through the courts after six years of last contact as the debt is statute barred but you can't blame them for trying.
