A Company who appear to have taken over a debt from an old Nat West Credit Card

I have been contacted by a Company Claiming that they are chasing a credit Card Debt to Natwest. What leverage do they have regarding enforcement?This debt doesn't appear on my Credit file.Ill have to see what it is but I am worried particularly since I have to care for my wife who have a severe brain injury and we have virtually no income spare nor are we likely to get any.
