Once you get to the 6 year mark then yes the CCJ falls off your Credit File but you do still owe any monies that are still outstanding and should continue to make payments as usual until all paid. If they are thinking of your car then providing you have kept up to date with all payments then I think they may have a problem as they would need to go for Enforcement which may then fail. They could also ask that your payments increase and given the general conditions at present you may be able to counter for a lower one. Until they do something then all you can do is it it out and wait.

You could of course sell your car to a family member but that may cause problems with the finance company.

so as long has i have kept payments up i should be ok which i have it is done on a direct debit set up by them six years ago the chances are they would not be granted a enforcement order

Applying for enforcement is pretty much straightforward and the first you would know about it is when a letter drops through the door. It is easily dealt with via Form N245 and providing it is the County Court Bailiff then they are reasonable and would wait until a decision is made. In your case I honestly cannot see them achieving much by doing this so wouldn't worry unduly until if or when they do something.
