  • Moorcroft chasing me along with others

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I've come here to seek advice and reassurance if that is even possible.
For some time now...actually for several years, I have been in debt with several debt collection agencies.
Most of these debts are from payday loans I took out (the last one of which I took out about a year or two ago) which i couldn't afford to pay back.
You might think it my own fault, and I know that it is my fault and nobody can be blamed for the situation I find myself in except me.
But that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be afraid, as many people I've spoken to in person have told me. I hope people on here are more able to relate, and therefore not be judging

Moorcroft are chasing me for about £1,500 while two or three other agencies are chasing me for a combined total of about £3000. So I guess my total owed is around £4500.
It has been constant letters for a good few years now, I've never had a CCJ yet but I do fear the time is coming surely.
Moorcroft sent me a letter (which I can't find now) saying if I didn't make contact with them they'll be passing it on to some solicitors (they named the solicitors but due to losing the letter I can't remember their name...so don't know if they are fake or real solicitors). This was last month and I never responded to them, and not heard anything back yet.

I'm currently not in a position to pay anything back and all I will say is that is going to be the case for the foreseeable future. I have sifted through these forums and it seems actual court action is an absolute last resort but they must be coming to their last resort with me now. Sometimes I don't hear form them for months though (Moorcroft and the others), and just when I think theyve decided to just leave me alone and write everything off, the letters start coming in thick and fast again.

Well I am very anxious about what is going to happen. Bailiffs? I hope not as I still live at home with my mother. It would kill her if they came to the door. It is her home not mine, surely they can't take anything belonging to her, and it wouldn't be fair...she isn't the one in debt. It's all my fault and I worry so much for my mum. Will they take me to court? WHy haven't they already done so for the good few years I've been in all this debt (Moorcroft or any of the others).

I'm very scared. I know someone who used to work for Lloyds Bank debt department and he said if there was no way the person was able to pay the debt off and if that was the case for the foreseeable future, he said he could take the discretionary choice of just giving the person a repreive and writing everything off (so long as the amount was small or relatively small...like, 5k could be written off but 50k couldn't be). Should I just finally write to them explaining my situation and begging them to consider just writing the debt off? In the grand scheme of things, they must have bigger fish to fry?

I am signed up with Clear Score and this debt has damaged my credit rating so bad. I have well below the national average credit score (just a little over 100 when the national average is over 450?). But I can accept this. What i can't deal with however , is the thought of legal action against me. How likely is it to come to this and should I write to Moorcroft and the other debt collectors asking that the debts be written off due to the fact I'm just simply not going to be able to even begin to make an effort to pay any time soon? Will they care? Need some advice here, as I'm so frightened.

1ST of all stop beating yourself up ,no one on here will judge you as most have been in a similar position at some point .
Someone knocking at your mums door is a long way down the line (if ever),next time you receive documents post them on here and people will advise the best way forward .
Important !!!!!!---Do not respond to any letter (or ring Dca) until you have posted here .
