  • Claiming back charges

I currently have an Egg credit card account (obviously it's not active as it's been withdrawn from me) but I was wondering if I can claim back the charges, i.e. overlimit charge, etc?

I have never received a statement from Egg as it is all done online. I can view statements from August 2007 and I can see I've had charges.

Can I send an SAR to Egg for my statements and claim my charges back?

Also, can I claim back Merchandise Interest or Cash Interest?

There are differing views on claiming back interest. My view is stick the charges on a spreadsheet with the same rate of interest as they've been charging you and see what it comes out to. Then see what they offer you. When/If you file at court you will get the stat 8% interest anyway. Remember that if you are claiming back interest from them you have to put this in your prelim from the beginning. (Not the 8% stat, you add this on at N1 stage). Not sure how Egg play it as far as early settlements and interest go.

How long have you had the card, if its longer than you can get your online statements for, then send SAR to get the rest of the statments in case there are charges on them too.

You can claim late payment charges and overlimit fees.
        Is no longer here

If I remember correctly (I will check) I am sure egg are quite quick with regards to sending statements.

That's pretty good. I think I've had the card for about 2 years now, maybe more so I'll be sending an SAR for my statements
