  • Credit card rate jacking

About 12 months ago Santander decided to up my 123 credit card rate by about 7%.

Guess what? Yes, I rejected the change and haven't looked back. While I'm still repaying them, every month my debt is reducing. I haven't been missing the card too much. In fact, I have no credit cards at the moment and won't be able to get one in a hurry.

Ba$tard$ can jack their rates as much as they wish but the best thing to do is to reject those silly games. I wrote to Ms Ana Botin, herself. My complaint was then dealt with by their executive team. I complained about a couple of other things too. As a result I got my CCP refund straight away while most are still waiting.

    Re: Credit card rate jacking

About 5 years ago, when the BoE dropped interest rates to nearly zero to stimulate the economy, MBNA increased the rate to nearly 36% :scared: :scared: :scared: That meant the balance was actually INCREASING while I was maintaining the minimum payments, as PPI was being applied and I wasn't aware of the whole thing.

I was sooooo upset :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :flame: I decided to stop paying and try one of them places where you could have your debt 'wiped' or ruled unenforceable. (I know, I know) I sent a CCA request as the first step to see if they could do this with my account, and they promptly replied they couldn't find it! :bounce:

The clock's been ticking nicely over the past 4 years... :clock: :clock: :clock:

...and I've not heard a peep since Dec 2011! :tinysmile_kiss_t4:

    Serves them right!
