Just wondering if you got anything sorted with this...I had a default registered with Experian from MBNA 6 days before the date on the default notice was issued...identical case...

      Re: MBNA Default Notice

I received a DN from MBNA along with a £12 charge for alleged Late Payment plus interest. I had made a payment from my Bank Account (Fast Payment) on the day prior to the due date. The money left my account immediately My Bankers assured me that, having left my account the money could not be in Limbo and must therefore have been in an MBNA account. Even though it was not applied to my account until 4 days later nevertheless they had the money and had use of it.

I complained and some 3 weeks later MBNA acknowledged the facts of the matter and credited my account with the £12 and the interest.

Therefore, with some methods of payment, MBNA are not entitled to demand 4 days clearing time.

Have a look at your statements if this has happened to you and demand the money back. Please note that what I have said here only applies to payments directly from your bank to the specified MBNA account.

      Nil desperandum carborundum illegitimous!

Seems credit card companies try this on i.e.:-

Use your debit card to pay, goes from your account there and then it seems, but they log it 3-4 days later, I had one like that. Lucky it was not a late payment, but interest no doubt for the 4 days whilst in their credit, god let the people investigate and ledgislate these Bankers etc. They cannot be trusted to act in a Humane Way.
