    Re: Matty vs. Barclaycard

Excellent news, probably the easiest and most worthwhile letter you have sent for quite a while.

As Ame has pointed out, why would someone pay a CMC hundreds of pounds plus a percentage to do similar, the mind boggles. Enjoy your netbook.

P.s. You can send my fee of £150+vat+30% of your reclaimed amount to

    Scamstreet
    Money For Old Ropeshire
    Scumbagsville

Tel: 01924 100000000000000 (oops sorry, force of habit just thinking of a random number and adding a few noughts for no reason like a CMC)

        Re: Matty vs. Barclaycard

Pasted from another thread becuase it's probably useful to have on here for anyone lese making a claim against Barclaycard:

        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
        Hi BathTub,

I SARd them first and added the amount I thought due (£726) on the letter Tools put together, along with a demand for interest at the contractual rate.

Enclosed with the letter I recieved from B/card informing me of the refund they were making I received a Schedule of Charges Document detailing the my unfair charges back to Oct '03 along with the interest they have refunded me.

A £40 charge from Dec '03 has returned £39.38 refunded interest, apparently at 17.9% APR.

More recently i paid a charge of £24 in March '07 for which i recieved a refund of £12.68, apparently at 24.4% APR.

Anyone with a calculator and a bit more intellegence than me might be able to figure out if they've refunded that properly but it does seem to suggest that i received refunded interst 'at the contractual rate'. And that i've been paying a hell of a lot of interest on my balance (which incidently is now £0.00 )!

          you guys are ace

Thanks Matty! I was getting a bit worried as I couldn't see many wins against Barclays/Barclaycard (I will be sending them a few claims once I get statements) so it's good to see a success story :tinysmile_grin_t:

            Re: Matty vs. Barclaycard

            Matty WELL DONE!

You got the result you needed and now you have a tidy "credit" on your card which you can spend without comming home to a massive card bill after your holiday (thanks to them lowering it to £250 !!).

However the way they have refunded the interest is not the way they applied it in the first place so for them to be fully "held to account" and return the money they actually made off you in this matter they would need to return the money as if the rate had been compounded monthly.

Taking the £40 charge individually 17.9% applied as 1.38% (monthly) becomes £67.10 in interest, but we know from your March 07 refund you had an interest hike up to 24.4% at that time (1.84% monthly).

Put that into the mix and you realise that they could have actually made as much as £84.51 over the years (assuming your balance was not cleared off, but even if it had been how much interest would you have gained elseware).

Nice work if you can get it !!!

I assume you have signed no Full & Final so you have nothing to lose (the window is left open for a further claim).

A GREAT RESULT NONE THE LESS, THANKS TO LB'S: ENJOY YOUR TRIP>:beagle:
The charges coming in to the banking industry every day will more than pay the banks total legal bill for the whole test case so why wouldn’t the Banks want to "ensure Justice at the highest level"

Hi Nestagen You actually do not need your statements - just send the letter that Tools and Matty sent and you will be refunded - trust me it works in 9 to 10 latter a refund hey presto, what could be easier.
