Relating to a Halifax One Credit Card

I have been paying £1 a month for many years

I decided to send a Request for Information under Section 77-79 Consumer Credit Act 1974

They have replied

I write with regards to your recent correspondence regarding the above referenced account. Unfortunately we are unable to fulfill your request as we have not yet completed the required security checks in order to verify your identity. The information we require is as follows -

- Full name
- Date of birth
- Previous address and postcode

I have been paying this company for years, and they have been sending me statements and letters to my full name, at this address, both of which I supplied in my letter.

Is this normal? Seems very strange. I do not want to take a miss step.

They are just being 'pedantic', admin processing, nothing more then that.

They want to check that the person requesting your personal data is indeed you. Is that wrong?

Nothing wrong with it, but from memory I've never encountered anybody that's received a request for more information when they've made a CCA request, so that's what I'm saying.

Yes, SAR's are a totally different thing altogether, the organisation holding the data has to be satisfied that the person requesting their own data is who they say they are, ICO Guidelines state as much. .

agree there one tried with me they got a suitable reply from ICO. they then stated cannot find one!

they are trying to dig deeper to find one (getting more time) knowing there is not one available!?

I am not at all clear that an SAR is that different from a CCA check. Each requests personal information about the requesting party.
